As is quite obvious, we don't post a lot of articles on our Blog. Only when something comes along that has a meaningful message, that we feel is important to communicate, will we share them. They never have anything to do with windows.

About a year and a half ago, a young man, Will Hosmer, started working at Mathews Brothers, following his father, Dave. They are simply an outstanding family. Honest, principled, salt-of-the-earth kind of people. You know, Mainers.

Today, at the tender age of 21, Will is the Lead Carpenter in our Specialty Department, the department that is responsible for setting up everything from inside jamb extensions to exterior casings to multiple mulled units... to just about anything that isn't a single unembellished window. He supervises 15 other carpenters. And they do an outstanding job. Truly outstanding.

Today, we learned something new about Will. He has awesome communication skills. He posted this on his Facebook page, and has allowed us to share it here. Thanks Will!

"Intelligence" Is not whether or not math is your strong suit. It is not the idea that you can or cannot write well. Intelligence is the measurement of progress you make in the field you so choose, and the development of that skill between any given points. Intelligence is the acceptance of the fact that everyone starts somewhere, and that only practice will get you farther. The growth of one's knowledge and the way that person so chooses to use it, that is what determines whether or not they are intelligent.

No surprise here that Will has broken out as a leader for your company. He worked for my company from the time he was 14, and still does now and then. His work ethic is unsurpassed. I am glad you see his potential and reward it, allowing him to grow, and learn and lead. He is a born leader, and a willing learner. Groom his, learn with him, and one day he will be running the place if you are lucky.
